
Gentle, grounding, and deeply supportive—this Foundational Mat Pilates class is designed to help you reconnect with your body while easing tension and building subtle strength.
We’ll move slowly and mindfully through core-stabilizing exercises, incorporating breathwork and props like light bands or small balls to support joint mobility, balance, and postural alignment.
All levels are welcome. Modifications are offered throughout, with plenty of personal guidance to meet you exactly where you are.
Foundational Mat Pilates with Marisa
Marisa is currently working on her certification in STOTT PILATES which is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates while adding modern techniques from a physical therapy point of view compliments of Moira and Lindsay G. Merrithew. Matwork Pilates exercises requires you to look within, focus on your breathing, and feel the subtle differences within your body. There are 3 levels: essential, intermediate, and advanced which any body can do as long as completing safely; many modifications are available for every exercise, so feel free to ask! Matwork Pilates will help you achieve longer, leaner muscles and create a stronger back while working on your core by focusing on precision and control with each movement, specifically bringing attention to breath and form.
